Facilitated by Academic Services DN Digital Skills is initiative to support Digital Skills and recognise achievements of staff members. DN Digital is a hub for active collaboration and knowledge exchange. It is a community of practice around digital approaches to learning, teaching and assessment for teaching staff and productivity and collaboration for business support.

The Community of Practice

Hosted in Microsoft Teams the objective of the community is to foster a community of practice around digital approaches to learning, teaching and assessment for teaching staff and productivity and collaboration for business support.

The community includes case studies and conversations, whilst also providing the ideal environment to disseminate the latest technology-related news, resources, innovations, and initiatives. The community hosts webinars and events on digital tools. These will be facilitated by the Academic Services Team, Digital Champions, and members of DN Colleges Group who are working to progress through the DN Digital Skills Recognition Scheme.

Digital Self-Assessment DN Digital Skills uses the JISC Discovery Tool to provide you with a clear indication of where you are currently at and which skills they would like to develop in the future.

It allows you to map out you own digital capability across different skill areas, with a view to then re-visit/re-assess at regular intervals along your own pathway. These can prove particularly helpful in building both capability and confidence in the use of technology to enhance professional practice. You can access the tool at any time inside of DN digital Skills. Link is also below.

Digital Skills Program

Training sessions, online training & self-study modules will be mapped to the six areas of digital skills identified by JISC. You can then identify improvements and which training sessions can support you as well as how they relate to your own digital understanding.

Training is simple, structured, accessible, and available through multiple delivery modes face to face, online seminar, hybrid sessions & self-paced etc. Training sessions will be both Synchronous and Asynchronous; measured with equal importance.

You can access DN Digital Training from the Staff Toolkit. Sessions will also be recorded and posted in the DN Digital Microsoft Team.

Digital Recognition Scheme

Digital recognition is integral to DN Digital Skills. You will earn badges for completing the evidence of using digital tools, improving digital skills, and sharing good practice.

  1. A Community of Practice - To progress up the levels you will need to contribute and share to the DN Digital Skills Community, in forms of posts, questions and webinars
  2. A Digital Self-Assessment – To progress you will also need to complete the Digital Self-Assessment and revisit this in intervals and show improvement in 6 areas
  3. A Digital Skills Program - To progress you will also need to attend digital skills sessions, show & reflect on improving practice and participating in the delivery of sessions.

Microsoft Teams Homepages - Carmen Wood Maths & Construction

  Microsoft Teams Homepages - Carmen Wood Maths & Construction I have been working with one of the Vocational Tutors in Construction and we have developed the Home Page on his class team. Yesterday we introduced his learners to the Team and how the new homepage works. His students can now access the tutor resources, Skills Boost, Push the Button, ProPortal, BLC, Student Toolbox and various other websites, see a plan of their year, access their assignments and have contact with the course tutor all in one click! The students responded really well, and we can also see-through insights that the learners have accessed and used the unit content that have been provided to them. Other staff members have seen what we have done, and a full team training session is going to be put on to support them. I have also created one for my own learners for Maths and they are accessing it for their revision ready for their Resit I am really happy with the development on teams.  Thank
