Microsoft Teams Homepages - Carmen Wood Maths & Construction

Microsoft Teams Homepages - Carmen Wood Maths & Construction I have been working with one of the Vocational Tutors in Construction and we have developed the Home Page on his class team. Yesterday we introduced his learners to the Team and how the new homepage works. His students can now access the tutor resources, Skills Boost, Push the Button, ProPortal, BLC, Student Toolbox and various other websites, see a plan of their year, access their assignments and have contact with the course tutor all in one click! The students responded really well, and we can also see-through insights that the learners have accessed and used the unit content that have been provided to them. Other staff members have seen what we have done, and a full team training session is going to be put on to support them. I have also created one for my own learners for Maths and they are accessing it for their revision ready for their Resit I am really happy with the development on teams.  Thank

Padlet – a new era for assessing the development of technical skills with greater validity - Paul Boucher

Padlet – a new era for assessing the development of technical skills with greater validity First some context…  According to the awarding organisation’s specification you need to define and describe the benefits of circuit training in a written answer in a booklet. Now imagine, you are a gym instructor and different customers are asking for more information about a group circuit training session. They would like to speak to you and have a conversation. This is the norm. How do I better prepare my learner to be a successful gym instructor? How do I capture the development of technical skills? How can I make assessment more realistic and valid? Enter Padlet. For those unfamiliar with Padlet, it is a digital notice board to upload text, images, links, audio, videos, and documents, all collated on a "wall" that can be made public or private. Switching from paper to digital… By transforming the traditional printed booklet into a ‘shelf’ layout on Padlet I was able to ‘post’ the

PowerPoint – the days of boring presentations are long gone! - Darren Morgan

PowerPoint – the days of boring presentations are long gone!   As a student , I was exactly the same as you were, and the same as some of our students – terrorized and put to death-by-PowerPoint Thankfully those days are long gone . PowerPoint has grown up, evolved and put on its best “going out” suit to woo a new generation of educators.    During the lockdown, I took a long, hard look at my practice and realized that I needed to “get down with the kids”. They didn ’t just want to learn any more, they wanted to be engaged, entertained and enthralled by lesson content fit for the 21 st Century . I must admit that at first I hunted the internet for the all-singing and all-dancing platforms such as Prezi , Genial.ly, Peardeck and Ed p uzzle (you name it, I tried it) and, though each one had its own merits, it would have cost a fortune to embrace them all.   I had to look for a cheaper, more accessible alternative , and this is where PowerPoint comes in. By playing around with

Making video learning easy in ClickView - Ollie Reeve

Using ClickView I use ClickView a lot on the L3 film course. Many students do not have TV licences or subscriptions to VOD services. So, I can set them weekly homework to watch a classic film e.g. back to the future on ClickView and then I get them to reflect on the film and do a mini review for the week after. The watching of the film is homework and the write up is done as part of their scheduled online learning. Its massively helpful as students do not need to pay or subscribe for all these other services so it breaks any barriers there and allows all the students to access content that is good for their development.   There are also some excellent filmmaking master classes by Philip Bloom, which if purchased on MZED would cost a few hundred pounds and the second years have found those to be extremely beneficial to their learning. You can get started with ClickView using this guide on Teachblend Ollie Reeve - Lecturer Screen  Art
